*this is not a song that anyone in the mansion might know--it's a song of John's composing, the overture to his musical about Houdini. he's trying to make a key change work, and having only partial success*

Tom doesn't say anything in reply, but he shudders and for a while he looks like the hunted, crazed, broken Tom from before.

(Zjen would like that. I can see him embracing modern music much more fully then Tom. He needs to get some rock and roll records to channel his teenaged-ness through.) He grins although it is a bit more subdued. "No. That was something you could actually sing to."

(I can see him working his way up and then just sticking somewhere in the fourties/fifties/sixties and some select tracks from other decades. He still likes his music to be relatively silly and happy and danceable.) "Badly. Rick reminds me of that fact often. I do believe I've killed 'Rule Britannia' for him for all eternity."

(Gah! Forgot about Zjen and music. Yeah. Zjen will probably like whatever sounds good at that moment. I can see him being into Barenaked Ladies just for the band name and because they have a song called Alcohol. And one called Angry People which is totally John's song.) "Are you certain? People have gone mad after hearing my voice."

If any of my characters look like they are going to be majorly interacting with another character I try to get familiar with the other canon. That's why I got Bleak House on dvd. And Zjen's song is edging towards "You're Not the Boss of Me Now" by They Might Be Giants.)

The Zjen song is actually the theme song to Malcolm in the Middle. But it's just a general teenaged boy, not quite serious, 'I'm kind of mad at you, but I;m mad at me too and kind of mad at the world. Hormones suck.' song.)

"As long as I don't get charged with murder afterwards." (Materialistic little nudge. (Nudge, it turns out is a Yiddish word that comes from the Polish word for annoy. That is my new word for him. I've been using it all my life and never knew it was Polish. Go figure.)
