*this is not a song that anyone in the mansion might know--it's a song of John's composing, the overture to his musical about Houdini. he's trying to make a key change work, and having only partial success*

Here. *thrusts sheet music at him--he's written Houdini as a baritone-to-tenor, and this would be a solo about 'The Impossible Escape'* I'll play the melody; you'll follow along with the words--and once you think you know the tune well enough, try singing it.

I like it well enough, monsieur. I'm not an informed music critic. *but he's tried humming the melody and is trying to get the words into his head to attempt to sing it*

*will start singing, trying to follow along without much confidence* *not likely to be able to copy all the expressiveness John is suggesting because he hasn't had any voice training since he was 11 or so and that was mostly for church choir* *however, he's not as bad as he claims--he's just untrained and incredibly shy about it*

With a few lessons in many areas I might have something, but I haven't the time to study everything. *small shrug* I like music though.

Not at the moment. I'm going to learn Mermish with Draco's help, and I feel as if I have studied a great deal since arriving here, but... *bites his lip* I've lost a lot of my memory of the last two years. Certain things have come back but not everything.

If you mean before here... I was studying law before I had to emigrate to England.

I liked studying the law, but French law wasn't much good in England and before I had a chance to re-orient myself, I ended up here. Where nothing like that is any good at all. *sadly*

Friends--Arthur's a friend, at least, and Perry considers himself my mortal enemy and perhaps deserves the title. *pause* Anarchy? Aren't there ... wardens, or something?

We're not in a monarchy here. There are many kings and queens and princes and whatever. Like that Russian Prince Paul. He doesn't rule anything as far as I know. The man who is his tsar there is here too. It's all confused.
